I watched a video on "The Science and Art of User Experience at Google" (Google Tech Talks, Jun 7, 2006. Jen Fitzpatrick) I took notes of important points.
------------------------------------------
-Google philosophy in design (on Google):
Simplicity. "All it needs to do it get people on there way to searching the information they are looking for."
-Google Description:
"Like a swiss army knife." "A tool that gives you exactly what you want when you need it. But not everything everything you could possibly need, all at the same time."
"it always easy to add new features to a product, its much harder to have the discipline to leave things out"
-User Testing:
"While carrying out user tests, one user just sat there looking at the screen. Eventually he was asked what he was doing. He replied 'Waiting for the rest of the page to load in.' As a solution to this, Google now has the copyright line at the bottom that acts as a full stop, and shows the page is in fact already loaded."
